At Homecoming this year, many of the girls in my grade did not have any dates. While the entire freshman class gathered to take pictures, a boy started passing out flowers to every girl in our class, making sure to give us ones to match our dress colors so we could all feel special. He GMH.

Today, my teacher was telling us a story about her friend's adopted son and how he got picked on for it. One day at school a boy went up to him and said, "I came from my mommy's tummy, where did you come from?" knowing the boy was adopted. His response? "I came from my mommy's heart." Today I saw that someone had changed some graffiti on the subway from "kill yourself" to "fulfill yourself." GMH

I was sitting on the bench outside of work one day trying to fix my make up. An elderly man walked passed me with his groceries heading towards his car in the huge Walmart parking lot. He then returned back a minute or so later to tell me "you're beautiful without all that stuff, and you don't need it." Groceries still in hand. GMH

When i was in elementary school i was a very shy child and didnt have any friends. So when it came to lunchtime i would sit all by myself at the far end of the table. The principal of my school realized this and sat and ate lunch with me everyday for months until i finally found some friends. I will never forget him, he GMH.

One night while working as a resident at the hospital, we ran out of beds, meaning there was nowhere to put patients. I came home and while telling my husband this, my daughter walked in and said she can sleep on the floor, the patients can have her bed. She was three. GMH.

Today I was dressed as a bear and went around a carnival hugging people. I saw a girl about 16 crying, so i gave her a really big hug. She told me that she was ditched by all her friends who only invited her as a joke and my hug made her feel important. Small gestures DO make a difference, this GMH.

Today, I woke up full of life, feeling creative, beautiful, and loved. Looking at the calendar, I realized that it was exactly 6 months ago that I attempted suicide. My recovery GMH.
